Associate Professor of Obesity Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism | University of Chicago

Dr.  Silvana Pannain is an associate professor of Obesity Medicine and  Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism  at the University of Chicago in Chicago and  the  founder and director of the Medical Weight Management Program at the University of Chicago. Dr. Pannain completed her medical degree in 1990 and her residency in Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery in 1994 at the University’ of Naples, "Federico II", Italy;  the Internal Medicine Residency  in 2002 at  Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center Bronx, New York and  the Endocrinology Fellowship in 2004 at the University of Chicago, Chicago. She has been Board Certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism since 2007 and Obesity Medicine since 2016.
 
Dr. Pannain’s research interest has been to examine the relationship between sleep and meal timing with obesity, glucose homeostasis and appetite regulation in obese patients. Her most recent research work has examined the relationship amongst circadian misalignment, overweight/obesity, and insulin sensitivity

Dr. Pannain has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals. Since 2018, she has served as a member of ABOM Obesity Medicine Certification Committee with the scope of developing the Obesity Medicine recertification pathway for ABOM.

 


Dr. Vaishali Geib

Chief Medical Officer | ReShape MD and Medical Director of Population Health | Privia Health

Dr. Vaishali Geib is a practicing internist in Northern Virginia, CMO of ReshapeMD and medical director of Population Health at Privia Health. She received her MD from the University of Missouri Kansas City in the six-year combined BA/MD program and completed her residency and chief residency in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins University/Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She also completed a fellowship at the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona where she served on the Leadership Council under Dr. Andrew Weil

 


Jeff Skeen

CEO and Principal | Results Redefined

Jeff Skeen is the chief executive officer and principal of Results Redefined, an organization dedicated to integrating the fitness and healthcare industries in order to lower healthcare costs and make healthcare affordable. 

For more than 26 years in the fitness industry, Skeen has been intimately involved in equity and debt transactions exceeding $500 million, which provided each investor group with a minimum IRR of 25%.

During his career, Skeen was responsible for designing one of the first Windows-based health club management systems in the U.S., which was used during his tenure at Gold’s Gym International as the operating platform.

Skeen served as president, CEO and principal of Fitness Connection, where he was responsible for the overall performance of the company, as well as determining its strategic direction. Fitness Connection is a low-price, high-value chain operating in North Carolina, Texas and Nevada and is one of the top 20 chains in the U.S.

Prior to forming Fitness Connection, he was CEO and principal of Titan Management Solutions (TMS). While at TMS, Skeen worked with Gold’s Gym franchisees in opening and operating fitness clubs throughout the U.S. Sometime before TMS, Skeen had worked as the CFO, CIO and principal of one of the largest and most respected health club chains in the world, Gold’s Gym International (GGI).

Before handling the said positions at GGI, Skeen was a principal and an operator of the G Group, an organization that focused on owning and operating Gold’s Gym franchise locations in four markets in the greater DC metro area. By 1998, the G Group was recognized as the largest and most profitable Gold’s Gym franchisee worldwide.

 


Bob Nagy

National Director of Fitness & Wellness | Virtual Health Partners

Bob Nagy has been working in fitness, nutrition and lifestyle management integration with the medical industry for more than 10 years. Nagy currently works with Virtual Health Partners as its national director of fitness and wellness and with Fitness Formula Clubs in a consultant role as director of medical services. Nagy is involved in many initiatives specific to the integration of healthcare with nutrition, fitness and lifestyle improvement initiatives.

 

 


Doug Ribley

Senior Vice President of Health and Wellness Services | Cleveland Clinic Akron General

Doug Ribley has been active in the development and administration of quality health, fitness and wellness programs and facilities for 35 years. He has worked in the corporate, commercial and hospital based arenas.

Doug is currently the senior vice president of Health & Wellness Services for Cleveland Clinic Akron General. He was instrumental in the development and operation of Akron General’s three award-winning Health and Wellness Outpatient Delivery Centers, which represent a $120 million investment. These centers emphasize prevention, early detection, rehabilitation and outpatient treatment in a unique, clinically integrated environment.

Doug has been instrumental in the development of numeroushospital-based health and wellness center projects throughout the country and continues to provide leadership and insight related to the introduction of this model to communities and health systems locally, regionally and nationally.

Doug has served as a member of the Ohio State Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Wellness and Sports, is a past president and chairman of the Medical Fitness Association, is a recipient of the Medical Fitness Association’s Pioneer Award, Founders Award, Distinguished Service Award and the MFA Special Recognition Award all for his contributions toward the advancement of the medical fitness and wellness profession. Doug is a frequent author and speaker and has been named a fellow of the Medical Fitness Association and the Health Care Advisory Board Company.


Kevin Steele, Ph.D.

President | PTA Global, PTontheNet

Kevin Steele serves as track chair and co-moderator for the event. He began his career 30 years ago with a private personal training business for celebrities and athletes while serving as the aquatic director and faculty member in physical education and sports medicine at Pepperdine University. During this period, he also worked with a local physician specializing in preventive executive healthcare programs for corporations throughout the United States.

Steele was then recruited by Health & Tennis Corporation of America, the world’s largest health club organization at the time, as the director of education, research, and member services where he managed the fitness department and launched the first national platform for personal training. After Health and Tennis Corporation, he joined 24 Hour Fitness initially as the vice president of health services/corporate sales where he managed the fitness department, integrated health care into the clubs and developed 24 Hour Fitness University.

Later, he became vice president of sports marketing, managing all of the professional, collegiate and Olympic sports relationships for 24 Hour Fitness.  Steele then served as the vice president of research and business development for Life Time Fitness where he orchestrated the launch of the Life Time Fitness Triathlon Series. 

Steele also served as the vice president of education and programs for Mad Dogg Athletics. Currently, he is president of PTA Global and PTontheNet, and is a  principal with Communication Consultants, WBS, INC., providing high-quality consulting and training for the health and fitness Industry worldwide.
